كشفت وسائل إعلام تركية أن القاتل يدعى “مولود ميرت الطنطاش” وهو من مواليد عام 1994.
ونشر صحفي تركي تغريدة على موقع التواصل الإجتماعي “تويتر”، قال فيها إن مطلق النار على السفير الروسي شرطي تركي يعمل فى صفوف قوات مكافحة الشغب بالعاصمة التركية “أنقرة” منذ العام 2014، ويبلغ من العمر 22 عاما.

وأكدت مصادر أمنية أن اشتباكات دارت قرابة 15 دقيقة، بين منفذ الهجوم وحدات من الشرطة التركية قبل أن تنتهي بمقتله في الطابق الثاني من مبنى المعرض الفني.
